Southern Nazarene University’s Mass Communications program falls under the Department of Speech Communications and, in conjunction with the Department of Speech Communications, is committed to preparing young men and women for a career in a variety of areas such as: Broadcasting, Human Relations, Public Relations, Print Journalism, and Television Production. SNU strives to prepare students who can speak intelligently, act in an ethical and responsible manner, understand the role that effective communication plays in a variety of personal and occupational settings, and who value and appreciate the art of communications.
SNU’s Mass Communications program specifically desires to train individuals who can effectively tell a story, whether that story is communicated through video, radio, print or the web. Graduates of Southern Nazarene University have gone on to hold productive careers in journalism, broadcasting, public relations, communications and business.
At SNU, students will get personal attention and will be challenged to develop their creative nature in a responsible, ethically sound, and Christ-centered manner. The SNU Mass Comm. department is committed to staying on the cutting edge of the world’s ever-changing media market and ever-evolving technology. At SNU you will grow, be challenged, and learn how to perfect your craft through a variety of program driven experiential activities. SNU’s Mass Comm. department has spent the past few years upgrading equipment and is providing students with opportunities to learn news broadcasting, video production, live sporting event production, live radio production, live radio hosting, documentary making, sitcom production, newspaper design and reporting, and visual art design. These current, and future, opportunities will allow you to be marketable in the competitive world of communications.
SNU's Mass Comm. program also has relationships with local television affiliates, print affiliates, and businesses to provide students with outstanding internship opportunities during their college career.
