Homecoming Preview 2012

BETHANY, OK (November 6, 2012) - This year, on November 9th and 10th, Southern Nazarene University celebrates its annual Homecoming Weekend.

This year SNU will be honoring all Alumni veterans, active duty, reserves and military families. The campus will be adorned with yellow ribbons welcoming all of our veteran alumni back to campus. In addition, the SNUHomecoming schedule is filled with athletic events, class reunions, Crimson Camp 4 Kids, The Hall of Witnesses, the SNU Arts Festival, SNU School of Music Broadway Musical Into the Woods, and the coronation of the King and Queen.

One of the most important events at Southern Nazarene is the All-Alumni Dinner, known as the ‘Main Event’. During this gala dinner SNU will recognize those Alumni who have served and are currently serving in the military. Special dinner guests of President Loren Gresham include U.S. Congressman James Lankford and Brigadier General Hopper T. Smith, Assistant Adjutant General of the Oklahoma Army National Guard as well as members of The Governor's Honor Guard of the Oklahoma Army National Guard. SNU recognizes this great commitment and honors the dedication to the protection of our freedom by these men and women in service.

The Main Event, featuring the SNU Jazz Band, will be a great chance to reconnect with Alumni and friends from across generations. During the dinner, six veterans will be awarded the Outstanding Alumni Award. Recipients of this award are: Brig. General Rob Redwine, SNU Class of 1985, Air Force; Col. Bruce Hollywood, Class of 1984, Air Force; Captain J. David McClung, Class of 1965, Air Force; 1st Lt. Jay Johnson, Class of 2000 & 2002, Oklahoma National Guard; Lt. Col. Peter Plank, Class of 1979, Oklahoma State Guard; and CMDR Morris L. Neal, Class of 1952, United States Navy. These awardees were nominated by family and friends and selected by the SNU Alumni Board of Directors, based on their achievement and commitment to Southern Nazarene University.
