FAQs
Who is eligible?
All incoming undergraduates enrolling at SNU for the first time. 

What is included with my laptop computer?
The laptop computer will come with all manuals, software, and peripherals that are included in the manufacturer's shipment.

Network Connection
Any student wishing to connect to the SNU network must agree to all policies and procedures set forth by the IT Division. For additional information check the “Information Technology” and “Network Accounts” section of the SNU website.

How is the laptop serviced?
Students will check the laptop office website for documents which might help resolve the problem. If the student is unable to resolve the problem, help will be available on a walk-in basis at the laptop center.

How will the student connect to the university?
SNU maintains a campus wide Wireless LAN. Ethernet ports are available in all campus housing.

Do all courses require a laptop?
The choice of the best combination of textbooks, computer software, and other tools is made by the faculty on a course-by-course basis.

May students keep their laptops between semesters and through the summer?
Yes, after a student completes his or her first semester, he/she owns the laptop.

Will a case be included with the laptop?
Laptops will not be issued with a case.  Cases are available in the laptop center for purchasing, or students may buy cases from third-party providers.

How will students print their documents?
Student laptops will connect to network printers in all academic buildings.

May students install their own software on the laptops?
Yes. However, any needed repair to the laptop may require the laptop center to erase or replace the hard drive. The university will not be responsible for student loss of data or software.  Students are responsible for data back-up if they bring their laptop in for repair.

May students upgrade their laptop hardware?
Students are allowed to upgrade their laptop hardware after the first semester is completed.
