2012 Undergraduate Symposium

13 April 2012

Southern Nazarene University is proud to announce its Sixth Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium, “Voices Across the Disciplines,” to be held on Friday, April 13, 2012. The symposium, hosted on the Bethany campus of Southern Nazarene University, invites undergraduate students from all disciplines to present research projects in the form of papers and posters. For the first time this year, SNU is inviting area colleges and universities to participate in this one-day event.

Participation in the Undergraduate Research Symposium gives students invaluable experience in presenting and discussing their work in professional context. Each submission is reviewed by a panel of experts, and prizes are given for the best project submitted in each discipline.

This year’s keynote address will be given by Dr. Jimmie Weaver III, a 2004 graduate of Southern Nazarene University. Weaver completed his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Kansas in 2010 and is currently a Post-Doctoral Associate at Yale University. He has received a number of prestigious awards including the Higuchi Doctoral Award for the top chemistry Ph.D. from the University of Kansas. Dr. Weaver’s primary area of expertise is catalysis and synthetic methodology.
