BETHANY, OK --- Curt Luthye (’98), Southern Nazarene University (SNU) alumnus, will be the featured speaker at the Work & Witness conference on the SNU campus this fall. Curt has been a workshop leader at several annual conferences, which bring together people involved in short-term mission trips. This year Curt moves from the small group settings to being the keynote speaker on Friday evening, October 2 and again in the closing session at noon on Saturday, October 3.
This is the first time in the dozen years of this conference that an SNU alumnus has been the keynote speaker. Curt and his wife Beth are missionaries for the Church of the Nazarene in the Caribbean region. They live near the Regional Office in Miami, FL and have responsibilities for Work & Witness across the entire region as well as being the Caribbean Dutch Field strategy coordinator. Curt also assists with the region’s partnership program.
The Work and Witness conference, which is promoted primarily on SNU’s educational region of Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma is open to anyone interested in or involved with short-term mission trips. Registration cost is $30 until September 15 and $35 after that. The registration fee includes the Friday evening dinner, a coffee break time on Saturday morning and Saturday lunch. Participants do have to arrange their own housing.
Saturday morning will feature a line-up of small-group workshops on a variety of subjects. Facilitating those workshops will be veteran professional and volunteer short-term mission leaders. As many as a dozen entities -- mission fields, travel agencies, partnership organizations -- will have informative exhibit tables at the conference. All events at the conference will be held in the SNU Commons.
