Coach Shaun Caven, who trains Katy, said that he has seen much progress over this past year in Katy’s abilities. “She is getting faster and stronger the more she trains, and she shows much promise in improving her speed,” said Coach Shaun. Katy will compete in the 200-meter race.
In speaking with Katy about this venture, she was excited to share that the downtown Oklahoma City Boathouse District is currently trying to recruit new kids from Bethany to start paddling! Kids as well as adults can join this amazing sport. “I think most of us would like a shot at traveling the world and representing our country! Anyone interested can contact Andy Guiardinu at 405-209-3563. He will make sure that they will receive all the info that they need,” said Katy.
The team will compete at the Under-23/Junior World Championships in Szeged, Hungary, from July 17-20.
