SNU Students Serve at Panama City Beach

This summer 18 Southern Nazarene University students are serving through a discipleship program called Kaleo in Panama City Beach, Florida.

Kaleo is a nine-week experience that provides an exciting opportunity for seeking God. It is a time to learn biblical truths and practical skills to launch a thriving ministry for your school, campus and personal life. As part of Kaleo each student is required to work a 40-hour week including jobs at Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Dee Dee’s Donut Shop and various surf shops along the beach.

The students are broken down in to discipleship groups, also known as “D Groups”, in which they live and do various activities with throughout the week. Students are also involved in beach evangelism through a program called “the Bridge”. The Bridge is an illustration that sums up the main theme of the Bible using the verse Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

SNU sophomore, Crosbie Holliday, said, “God is working in so many different ways here. It is wonderful to see everyone changing and growing to who God wants them to be.”

Southern Nazarene University's mission is to transform lives through higher education in Christ-centered community. As a Christian community of scholars, we model the hospitality of grace, the pursuit of truth and the practice of discipleship, all within the Wesleyan-holiness tradition, as we prepare graduates who THINK with clarity, ACT with integrity and SERVE with purpose.
