Teacher Education Day at Oklahoma State Capitol

Southern Nazarene University’s Teacher Education Program recently participated in the “Day at the Capitol” emphasizing and promoting Teacher Education programs in colleges and universities across the State of Oklahoma.

Pictured above are Dr. Tim Taylor, State Senator Mary Easley, and Dr. Linda Everett.

Dr. Linda Everett, Professor of Education and Dr. Tim Taylor, Professor and Director of Teacher Education, participated in the event representing the Teacher Education Program from Southern Nazarene University.  Exhibits and displays highlighting individual teacher education programs were set up in the Capitol rotunda area.

The day was spent visiting with many State Senators and Representatives, reminding them of the quality of teacher preparation in Oklahoma institutions of Higher Education and promoting excellence in traditional teacher education programs across the state.  Dr. Taylor was also able to reconnect with retired teacher and State Senator Mary Easley, with whom he taught for several years in the public schools.

Dr. Loren Gresham, SNU President, also attended to show support for SNU’s teacher education program.
