2nd Annual Pastor Appreciation Day
On Tuesday, October 14, the Office of Church Relations hosted the second annual Pastor Appreciation Day on the campus of Southern Nazarene University, in celebration and appreciation of the pastors, associates, and their spouses of the South Central Region.
Over 200 pastors, associates, and their spouses were in attendance, representing all eleven districts on the South Central Region, and the states of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.
The day began at 10:00 am with a reception and fellowship time followed by worship in a revival chapel service with special speaker Dr. Mike Benson, Chaplain at Olivet Nazarene University, and guest musicians Tony and Tricia Bailey. The group then proceeded to the Webster Commons where a buffet luncheon was served and the pastors were treated to a number of give-a-ways, drawings, and presentations. Special entertainment included musical selections by the SNU public relations group EXALT! and a humorous, musical presentation by Dr. Mark Reighard, who capped the event with his intrepretation of the ‘lighter’ side of the life of the ministry.
“SNU is supported by 635 churches across the South Central Region, and this event is our small way of saying thanks to those who lead and serve these congregations,” said Dr. Terry Toler, Vice President for Church Relations. “SNU is not only a place where men and women prepare for ministerial service – it is a place that seeks to celebrate and encourage those who are already giving their lives to the ministry.”
The Office of Church Relations is anticipating an even larger response in 2004, as the group for this, the Second Annual Pastor Appreciation Day, was double the size of the inaugural event.
