Area Around QERC Becomes a National Park
The land around QERC has become a newest national park, Parque Los Quetzales (Quetzal National Park), in Costa Rica. QERC is located about 70 kilometers (44 miles) southeast of San Jose and the new park covers 5,000 hectares (about 12,000 acres) of cloud forest along the upper Savegre River. This park was added to help stop the advance of agriculture.
