Austin Grace to host ‘Covenant Celebration’
AUSTIN, TX - Choirs and bands from the Southern Nazarene University School of Music will gather in “Covenant Celebration” at Austin Grace Church of the Nazarene, 1006 West Koenig Lane, to present an evening of sacred music on Saturday, February 28 at 7:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend. There is no admission charge; however, a freewill offering will be taken.
Covenant Celebration is a time of reaffirmation of the bonds between church and university. The concert features performances by ensembles of the SNU School of Music including the Symphonic Band, Chamber Orchestra, Brass Choir, Handbell Choir, SNU Chorale, University Singers, Men’s Chorus, Women’s Chorus, and EXALT!. 150 students will be participating.
“The Covenant Celebration is designed to remind both the university and the church, that over a century ago, church members established a school to prepare their children to live and serve in the world. Through song and litany, we celebrate our heritage and our future,” said Dr. David Alexander, Vice President for University Advancement.
Southern Nazarene University is sponsored by the Church of the Nazarene in the South Central region of the country, drawing students from Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. Once each semester, the School of Music travels out on the region to present the Covenant Celebration.
