Chorale presents spring concert of Beginnings and Endings
The Southern Nazarene University (SNU) Chorale will present its spring concert entitled Beginnings and Endings, 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, at Oklahoma City First Church of the Nazarene, 4400 NW Expressway.
The concert will feature a diverse program of choral selections depicting life and death, including René Clausen’s “A New Creation,” “April Rain Song” by Elizabeth Alexander, “Every Night (When the Sun Goes Down)” by Gwyneth Walker, and the Shaw-Parker arrangement of “Saints Bound for Heaven.”
A highlight of the evening will be the Chorale’s world premiere performance of Genesis, Part I: Creation by Robert Cohen, with special appearance by the New Jersey composer himself.
“Genesis, Part I: Creation is scored for chorus, brass, and percussion and is an incredibly imaginative and exciting depiction of the creation of the world,” said Dr. D. Brent Ballweg, SNU Chorale Conductor and Professor of Music. “We know the audience will love it!”
The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the SNU School of Music at 405.491.6345 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
