Civic Music Association hosts Soprano Heidi Grant Murphy at SNU
The Civic Music Association hosts renowned soprano Heidi Grant Murphy, 2:30 pm, Sunday, March 10 in Herrick Auditorium at Southern Nazarene University, NW 39th Expressway and Asbury. Clyde Martin, better known as “Mr. Opera” from the Metropolitan Opera Commentary on KCSC, will be the commentator for “Classical Comments,” held prior to the performance in the Heritage Room of the SNU Webster Commons.
The Washington Post hails Heidi Grant Murphy as “playful, gallant, fluent, and graceful, exquisite in tone and communicative.” She has appeared with many of the world’s finest opera companies and symphony orchestras, notably the Metropolitan Opera, Salzburg Festival, Frankfurt Opera, New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Boston Symphony, and Philadelphia Orchestra.
Ms. Grant’s performance includes selections from “Cantigas de Santa Maria del Rey Alfonso X el Sabio,” excerpts from “Clarieres dans le ciel” by Lili Boulanger, Rachmaninoff’s Songs, Op 38, and various English pieces at the end of the program.
University staff, faculty and students must present identification at the door for free admission. Guest admission is $15 for adults, $4 for students 18 or older, and $2.50 for students under 18.
