Covenant Celebration Spring 2008
Choirs and bands from the Southern Nazarene University (SNU) School of Music will gather in “Covenant Celebration” for an evening of worship and celebration for the Houston District on Saturday, April 5th at 7:00 p.m. at the Living Word Church of the Nazarene located at 16607 Clay Road, Houston, Texas.
Previously known as Festival of Song, Covenant Celebration is a time of reaffirmation of the bonds between church and university. Once each semester, the SNU School of Music travels to different districts on the South Central region to present a Covenant Celebration. The concert features performances by each group within the SNU music department, with 140 SNU students participating this year.
“In a meeting of the District Leadership Team a few months ago, it was decided that we need to invest in our children and youth” said Dr. Duane Srader, South Texas District Superintendent. “On April 5, 2008 there will be a SNU Covenant Celebration for everyone, held at the Living Word Church of the Nazarene. Make plans now to get as many of your youth as possible to this great event. Our youth deserve the best.”
Southern Nazarene University is an institution of the Church of the Nazarene in the South Central region, drawing students from Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.
“The Covenant Celebration is designed to remind both the university and the church, that over a century ago, church members established a school to prepare their children to live and serve in the world. Through song and litany, we celebrate our heritage and our future,” said Dr. David Alexander, Vice President for University Advancement.
The public is invited to attend. There is no admission charge; however, a freewill offering will be received.
