David Alexander accepts presidency at NNU
BETHANY, Oklahoma – Dr. David Alexander, current vice president for university advancement at Southern Nazarene University, has been named President for Northwest Nazarene University.
“Dr. David Alexander, for 17 years our colleague and friend here at SNU, was elected Saturday, March 8, as the 12th president of NNU, our sister institution in Nampa, Idaho. We congratulate David and Sandy and wish them well in this new assignment,” said Loren Gresham, President Southern Nazarene University. Dr. Alexander will assume his new responsibilities with NNU on August 1 upon the retirement of President Rich Hagood.
Dr. Alexander has a rich history with Northwest Nazarene University. From 1986-1991 he served as a faculty member, was actively involved with faculty committees, directed the Northwesterners ensemble, conducted musical productions and was named ‘Professor of the Year’ by students. He has a doctorate in music education from the University of Illinois and earned a master of music in choral conducting from California State Fullerton.
In Dr. Alexander’s current role as vice president for university advancement at SNU, he has responsibility for the offices of alumni relations, communications and marketing and development. In this role Dr. Alexander has managed the largest capital campaign in the University’s history. He previously served as chairman for the SNU School of Music.
Dr. Alexander is a graduate of Point Loma Nazarene University (1977). He and wife Sandy have two adult children: son Matt and his wife Brenda have a daughter Elizabeth; and daughter Amy who is married to Andy Curry.
