Rita is a licensed professional counselor (LPC), a licensed alcohol and drug counselor (LADC), an EMDR II, and a national certified gambling counselor II.
Rita has been an adjunct professor since 1996. She has taught business courses at Rose State College; psychology, business & English at Redlands Community College; Trauma at University of Central Oklahoma. Rita began teaching Group Counseling at Southern Nazarene University in 2008.
She became Clinical Director at A Chance To Change Foundation in 2010. Approximately 50% of her time is spent supervising staff and 50% is working with clients. Currently she is facilitating a women’s trauma recovery group. Her group experience includes: Substance abuse recovery, gambling recovery, parenting, anger management, coping with chronic pain. Her clinical history includes both inpatient and outpatient counseling.
Rita is the business manager for Support People Incorporated, a small business her husband and her co-own. She has also been a financial manager for a church. While her work history includes both for profits and nonprofits, she prefers the sense of service that comes with working for nonprofits.
Rita's immediate family consists of her husband, Edwin Miller, and their 3 cats – Callie, Buddy & Ms. Kitty. Rita has three step-children, several grandchildren & nieces and nephews. Rita grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin, the 8th of 10 children. This gave her a love of nature. In 2011, Rita and her husband decided to 0 scape their lawn with native plants and grasses. They are already enjoying more birds and butterflies in their yard. Rita enjoys reading, especially murder mysteries. As a personal ministry, she knits prayer shawls and gives them as gifts. Rita and her husband have been remodeling their home for 20 years and enjoy long weekends and travel by train when they can.
Rita is pursuing additional training in the energy psychologies where she is working on certifications for Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Tappas Accupressure Technique (TAT).
