Don & Joy Beaver inducted into Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame
Don & Joy Beaver are among nine Oklahoma educators that have been selected for induction into the 2006 Higher Education Hall of Fame. The Induction Ceremony will be held on October 3, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
The Beaver’s have a long time history with Southern Nazarene University. The two met and fell in love in the pews of the chapel in 1942. Don has served in a variety of administrative positions at the University, which includes Vice-President. Joy served as a frequent speaker and school consultant. She is the founding director of the University “lab school” which services students Pre-K through sixth grade. Together, the couple served Southern Nazarene University for a combined 82 years.
The seven others selected include: Marshall Allen, Charles Butler, David Levy, Audrey Oaks, James Plaxico, James Ronda and Robert Todd (deceased).
Don and Joy recently retired in 2006. In retirement, the couple continues to play a vital role in the development of many university projects.
