Guest artist Stan Morris in Saxophone Recital
The SNU School of Music welcomes Stan Morris, saxophone, in guest recital Thursday, January 29th at 7:30 p.m. in Cantrell Music Hall, located just north of 39th and College on the campus of Southern Nazarene University. Morris is accompanied by pianist Linda Beckman.
Known for his artistic and creative performances throughout the United States and Europe, Stan Morris presents an imaginative program featuring contemporary works for the saxophone with transcriptions from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras.
Morris is a 10-year resident saxophonist at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville campus, and is currently a member of the Arkansas Saxophone Quartet. Active as a soloist and clinician, Morris has shared performances with world-renowned saxophonists such as Sigurd Rascher and Lawrence Gwozdz. Morris has also premiered new works for the saxophone quartet with the Rascher Quartet.
Dr. Linda Beckman, DMA, serves as Assistant Professor of Music at John Brown University. Beckman has accompanied opera singers for performances in Carnegie Hall, NYC, North Carolina, Ohio, Michigan, Oklahoma and Arkansas. In 2000, Beckman released a CD of meditative classical works and her hymntune arrangements. Beckman received a B.S. from Southern Nazarene University (1984), a M.M. from The University of Oklahoma (1988), and a D.M.A. from The University of Oklahoma (1994).
