Guitarist Charles David Smart to Perform
Guitarist Charles David Smart will perform at Southern Nazarene University, Tuesday, September 17 at 7:30 pm in Cantrell Music Hall located just north of 39th and College.
Smart is the first of four guest artists in the 2002/2003 Concert Art Series. Internationally recognized for his musical artistry and classical training, David has shared the stage with many leading performing artists including Roy Clark, Phillips Craig and Dean, First Call, NewSong, Larnelle Harris, Pat Methany, and Clark Terry. David has taught leading guitarists worldwide and has premiered works for sanctuary choirs, children, instrumental ensembles, and keyboard soloists as well as radio advertising. He has also produced a number of independent projects as well as two internationally released solo guitar albuns.
A Gospel Music Association member, Smart holds a Master of Arts degree in Music Composition and currently teaches music with MidAmerica Nazarene University and Kansas City Kansas Community College.
"Our community will enjoy hearing a guitarist of many talents, bringing a variety of engaging music from many different cultures. We are proud to have him for one night only," said SNU School of Music Chair, Dr. Phil Moore.
