Mass Comm produces Public Service Announcements
A community service and educational opportunity
Students in Les Dart's Writing for Broadcast course have completed their public service announcement projects. The Writing for Broadcast course focuses on learning methods for communicating important messages to a video audience. Each student created the concept, pitched the concept to their client, and executed production of the video. Using three new Mac G4 editing stations, students shot and edited their thirty second public service announcements (PSAs) with iMovie and Final Cut Pro software and will deliver the finished projects to their clients in a variety of formats. The clients are the Bethany Fire Department, SNU Admissions, SNU Athletics, SNU School of Nursing, BFC After School Program, New Life Ministries, and Westmoreland Ministries. Following the Fall break, students will again partner with their clients to produce lengthier documentaries to benefit the community while learning traditional broadcast writing techniques. Writing for Broadcast is a course offered through the Mass Communication Journalism program.
