Camping, Pig Kissing, Car Washing, and More!
The Messengers, a student group that volunteers in weekend ministry to regional churches, has begun the year with a flurry of activity.
The team welcomed new members with their annual Fall camping retreat to Roman Nose state park. Numbers are continuing to increase as the group extends its involvement with churches throughout the region.
The team also welcomes new members to the council. See the homepage for the complete list of new officers, including new president Sarah Snyder from Laramie, Wyoming. The council has made some bold decisions for the new semester, including an array of creative fundraisers, an ambitious, multi-city Spring Break tour, and their first church invasion of the young semester.
Messengers will be hosting a car wash at Auto Zone near the intersection of MacArthur and 39th Expressway on Saturday, October 2 from 10am-2pm. Sit and relax as your car is cleansed in the purifying suds manifested in the Messengers’ assiduous hands. Donations will help fund the Messengers ministry trips.
Following the car wash fundraiser, the Messengers will host a party for the youth of Capitol City Church of the Nazarene in downtown Oklahoma City and will return Sunday to present drama, lead worship, present a devotion, and lead youth and children’s Sunday school time.
Finally, the Messengers are planning a “Kiss the Pig” contest for later in the semester. Students, faculty, and staff will vote with their spare change to elect a campus “pig kisser.” More information will become available as details are finalized.
If your church is interested in hosting the Messengers, please see the Messengers homepage for contact information.
