Nila Murrow Gallery Dedicated
The Southern Nazarene University community is invited to an Open House on Friday, October 5 from 2-5:30 p.m. in the new Art and Design Department in the Fine Arts building at Southern Nazarene University.
Retired art professor Nila Murrow will be honored at the opening of the art gallery named in her honor. The gallery dedication will be held at 3 p.m. in the student lounge area of the Fine Arts Building.
The gallery dedication will showcase watercolor paintings created by Murrow who taught art courses and was the chair of the art department for 30 years. One of the pieces, a watercolor of a magnolia, will be the only permanent gallery piece.. Other artwork will be created by students and the collection will rotate.
In August, graphic design classes began meeting in the new facility that includes three classrooms, two offices and a reception area with the gallery.
The corporate classroom which is set up with with MacBook Pro computers, color printers, scanners and an electronic projection system was made possible through a $25,000 grant from the Kirkpatrick Foundation.
