Nina Gunter, General Superintendent to speak at Work & Witness conference
BETHANY, OK – Southern Nazarene University will host a Work & Witness conference to be held next weekend, September 16 and 17. Sessions will take place in the Webster Commons building on the SNU campus. General Superintendent Nina Gunter will be the guest conference speaker.
“Having the denomination’s first female General Superintendent as a speaker so soon after her election is special. This conference however, will be a critical point in disseminating information about work team opportunities in the Gulf Coast area.
Tim Van Hook, Nazarene Work & Witness USA director, will be at the conference, fresh from assessing the situation in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Bob Prescott, former head of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries and now leader of Nazarene global partnerships will also be present. People want to respond to needs. That’s why Work and Witness started. This conference will be full of inspiring moments, of heart rendering information and of challenges to get involved.” said Dr. Howard Culbertson, Professor of Missions at Southern Nazarene University.
Gunter is a respected leader and a motivational speaker and she is listed among Who’s Who among Students in American Colleges and Universities and Outstanding Young Women of America. She was named by Nazarene Bible College as the 2005 T.W. Willingham “Preacher of the Year.” There have been numerous articles published by Dr. Gunter as well as The Traveler’s Psalm, Our Defining Moment, and Christian Perfection.
While most of the participants will be members of the Church of the Nazarene, the conference is open to anyone interested in short-term mission trips. Your participation is welcome.
