SNU Alumnus Honored
(BETHANY, OKLA.) -- The Oklahoma County Bar Association recognized James N. Posey, Class of 1955, at their Annual Award Luncheon in June, 2007. Justice Marian Opala of the Oklahoma Supreme Court and Stephen Beam, president of the Oklahoma Bar Association, presented Posey with a certificate and a lapel pin recognizing his 50 years as a practicing attorney in Oklahoma.
Following graduation from Southern Nazarene University, Posey attended the University of Oklahoma College of Law where he received his juris doctorate. He began his practice in Bethany, Oklahoma where he has remained his entire career. Posey practices in real estate law, wills, trusts, estate planning and probate administration.
Posey has been a member of the American Bar Association since 1957 and was vice-chairman of the ABA Committee on Assistance to Solo Practitioners and Small Firms for five years. He also served as president of the Oklahoma
City Society of Title Attorneys, has been a special instructor on probate law and procedure for the legal assistant program at the OU College of Law, an adjunct professor at SNU in business law and is presently a member of the Oklahoma Estate Planning Council.
He is also involved in non-profit organizations. He is a member of the board of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene where he is the vice-chairman of the finance and facilities committee. He also serves as a member of the advisory board of Reaching Our City, Inc. Posey is the past president of the SNU Alumni Association and has served on the Executive Board of Deaconess Hospital.
Posey continues his practice of law in Bethany. He and his wife, Shirley, also live in the Bethany area.
