The Southern Nazarene University Choral Society is announcing the opportunity for singers in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area to participate in its fall rehearsals and concert. The SNU Choral Society is a 100-plus voice choral group that performs major and minor choral works with orchestral accompaniment. Membership is comprised of students currently singing in SNU choral ensembles and other students or members of the university or community with prior choral experience. Recent performances have included Bach’s Cantata No. 4, Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, and the Requiem’s of Maurice Duruflé and W.A. Mozart.
This fall, the Choral Society will be performing three Beethoven classics: “Hallelujah” from Mount of Olives; “Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage”; and the Choral Fantasy, Op. 80, along with the exciting contemporary oratorio Deo Gratias by Michael Cox.
Rehearsals will be held on Monday nights from 7:00-9:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts building on the SNU campus, 6729 NW 39th Expressway in Bethany. The first rehearsal is Monday, August 29th and the concert performance will be Sunday, December 4th. There is no cost for participation other than the purchase of music.
