SNU Executive Chef receives prestigious award

David Oden, Executive Chef at Southern Nazarene University, was recently awarded Chef of the Year by the Oklahoma City chapter of the American Culinary Federation (ACF) on Sunday, January 23, 2005 at the annual President’s Award Banquet.

“I find it incredible to be held in such high esteem by my peers,” said Oden. “I have been so blessed here (at SNU) with a quality staff and quality people.”

Oden is in his sixth year as Executive Chef of Sodexho Campus Services at Southern Nazarene University where he oversees food preparation for the university’s campus dining hall, catering, and Storm Cellar Café. During his time at SNU, Oden has also served as Vice President of the Sodexho Chefs Association of Oklahoma, Vice President of the ACF Culinary Arts of Oklahoma City, and was recently appointed District Chef of the Oklahoma District Sodexho Campus Services in July 2004.

Oden is a member of the Sodexho Campus Services’ Southwest Culinary Council and serves on the advisory boards of Francis Tuttle Technology Center and the Culinary Institute at Platt College in Oklahoma City.

Before coming to SNU, Oden served as Executive Sous Chef at the Oklahoma City Westin where he played an integral role in elevating the hotel to major competitor status in the Oklahoma City market.

Oden holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Central Oklahoma and an A.O.S. Culinary Arts degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York.
