SNU Fall Choral Concert
This year’s Fall Choral Concert will feature the SNU Chorale and performances by the Men’s and Women’s Choruses on Thursday, November 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Cantrell Music Hall, located just north of 39th and College on the campus of SNU.
The concert will feature a variety of sacred music performed by three of SNU’s choral ensembles.
The Men’s Chorus will begin the concert, singing a group of sacred pieces including arrangements of “Rise Up, O Men of God!” and “Hush! Somebody’s Callin’ My Name.” The Women’s Chorus will then present several selections including “Alleluia” by contemporary composer Paul Basler and “All God’s People Said Amen” arranged by Lee Poquette.
To conclude, the SNU Chorale will take the stage and sing a number of selections. Within the Chorale’s repertoire are “Sing a Mighty Song” by Daniel E. Gawthrop, “Open My Eyes” by K. Lee Scott, and “Jubliate Deo!” by Steven Burnett.
The SNU Chorale and Men’s Chorus are conducted by Dr. Brent Ballweg. Professor Philip Miller directs the Women’s Chorus. Accompanists include Prof. Tim Marek, Heather Smith and Ryan Blaske. Featured student soloists are Brandan Bowman of Longview, TX, Leslie Cannata of Oklahoma City, and Sarah Cantley of Bixby. As a matter of note, the SNU Chorale has been invited to perform as a collegiate honor choir at the upcoming Oklahoma Music Educators Association Winter Conference this January in Tulsa.
