SNU Jazz Band Performs with Guitarist Danny Vaughan
The jazz band of Southern Nazarene University will perform in spring concert featuring guest jazz guitarist Danny Vaughan, 7:30 pm, Saturday, May 4 in Cantrell Hall.
Danny Vaughan holds a Bachelor Degree in Guitar Performance, a Master of Music Education Degree, and is currently the jazz guitar instructor, lab arranger and midi specialist at the University of Central Oklahoma. He has taught at Rose State College, Oklahoma Baptist University and Southern Nazarene University.
In addition to teaching applied guitar and music theory, Vaughan is also the author of “Patterns for 21st Century Guitar,” a hypermodern system for improvisation and composition.
Vaughan has performed with the Oklahoma City Symphonic Orchestra, the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra, Ballet Oklahoma, Lyric Theatre, and is equally at home with traditional New Orleans jazz, country, bluegrass, rock and fusion.
The contemporary church music field is also an area in which he possesses experience and expertise. He has previously conducted a seminar, “Music in the Contemporary Worship Service,” at SNU, and is currently the Director of Praise Bands at Peace Lutheran Church.
