SNU Now Accepting Applications for Excel Honors Summit 2003

Select high school junior students are invited to earn two hours of college credit this summer through the Excel Honors Summit at Southern Nazarene University, June 20-28, 2003.

SNU’s Excel Honors Summit is an eight-day, academic, live-in experience on the SNU campus designed to challenge, encourage, stretch and uplift select high school students currently enrolled in their junior year. Summit members will live in the residence halls, study across the campus and take advantage of the university’s fitness and recreation resources.

Excel Honors Summit members are accepted on an individual basis, with consideration given to grade-point average, class rank, a score (if available) from any nationally standardized test (ACT, SAT, PSAT, etc.) and a letter of reference.

Those accepted into the Honors Summit will learn from an array of outstanding professors, engage in community/leadership projects, enjoy recreational activities, form lasting friendships with other junior scholars and earn two hours of university credit.

Excel Honors Summit members will immerse themselves in an intense experiential learning environment focused on “The Forties: A Decade of Change” – an in-depth look at one of the pivotal decades of the 20th century, studying its politics, history, arts, sports, science, popular culture and Christian faith.

University professors from the sciences, humanities, business, social sciences, education and the arts will lead summit members in a unique variety of learning experiences.
