SNU Presents Lecture by Mark Pinsky

The Office Of Spiritual Development at Southern Nazarene University presents a free public lecture by Mark Pinsky on Monday, October 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Herrick Auditorium located on the campus of Southern Nazarene University, 6729 Northwest 39th in Bethany, OK.

Mark Pinsky, Author of the bestselling first edition of The Gospel According to The Simpsons. He is a popular speaker for many universities and churches across the country speaking on the topic of faith, media and popular culture. His writings have been published in USA Today, Christianity Today, Moment, The Columbia Journalism Review, Quill and Harvard Divinity Bulletin.

“For a long time now, Mark Pinsky has had his ear to the ground on evangelism and popular culture,” said Dr. Brad Strawn, Vice President for Spiritual Development and Dean of the Chapel at Southern Nazarene University. “He is able to hold up a mirror to us and help us think carefully about our engagement in the world around us.”

Pinsky has presented his reports in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post. He is a graduate of Duke University and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He was a Sloan Fellow in Economics Journalism at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public Affairs.

"Pinsky's Orlando, Florida home (the beat for his coverage of religion) has a demographic not unlike our own OKC. His life and work seem a great testimony to ecumenicism in an age of polarization," said Pamela Bracken, Ph.D., Associate Professor of English at Southern Nazarene University.

Additional books that Pinsky has authored include - A Jew Among the Evangelicals (Westminster John Knox Press) and The Gospel According to Disney: Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust. In addition, he covers religion for the Orlando Sentinel.
