SNU introduces online registration
The Office of Admissions at Southern Nazarene University recently announced the addition of online registration for incoming freshmen and transfer students on the SNU website, located at www.snu.edu.
The online feature became accessible for traditional prospective students in May 2004 following an extensive year-long programming process by members of SNU’s Information Technology Department. The new application allows prospective students to complete the entire SNU registration process (Welcome 101) online, featuring step-by-step instructions, checklist status, and an online payment option for submission of application fees. Additional application elements include the development of a central student database and a data delivery and retrieval system which enables faculty, various departments, and designated “Mocha” (data) managers to easily access, track and maintain prospective student information.
The new online registration process comes as a result of the collective planning and collaboration of the Welcome 101 Committee, a group headed by SNU Admissions Director Larry Hess comprised of various faculty and staff leaders from across the SNU campus. In the summer of 2003, the group released the first Welcome 101 notebook for prospective students – a print piece that incorporates all the forms necessary to move a student from application to the first day of class – followed by the new design of all current student registration forms in Fall 2003.
With online registration underway for prospective students, the Committee is currently working towards the implementation of online registration for current students, scheduled to go live in Spring 2005.
