Three Southern Nazarene University (SNU) students from the SNU Equine Competition Team qualified to compete at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) in Burbank, California May 8 - 11, 2008. Scott Case, Corban Finkbeiner, and Janislynn Isackson represented SNU well and returned with awards.

Janislynn Isackson rode on May 9 and 10 in Open Western Reining and Horsemanship class and placed tenth among 317 colleges and universities eligible for competition.
“Although the competition was hard and challenging, I enjoyed it. My experience at SNU really helped prepare me for competitive riding at a national level,” said Isackson.
Scott Case rode on May 9 in the Beginning Western Walk Trot and brought home a fifth place ribbon.
Senior, Corban Finkbeiner qualified to compete in Intermediate Hunter Over Fences and rode well, finishing 11th.
“I enjoyed nationals because we got to represent SNU and compete against some of the best collegiate riders in the nation,” said Finkbeiner.
While three students qualified for Nationals, the 2007-2008 Southern Nazarene University IHSA Team finished the season First in Region in Western and fourth Hunter Seat.
SNU’s contingency of three students demonstrated SNU’s Intercollegiate Horse Show Team as strong competitors. IHSA reflects the best-of-the-best nationwide.
Bill Bowen, Director of the Equine Team, reports that with the fall 2008 enrollment in the Equestrian program, SNU will increase by 9 additional students.
