School of Nursing welcomes two new faculty members
The SNU School of Nursing welcomes two new faculty members to staff for the 2003-2004 academic year: Dr. Susan Barnes and Carol Dorough.
Dr. Susan Barnes joins the School of Nursing as Associate Professor where she will teach graduate nursing courses in conjunction with the new Master of Science Nursing program that will begin this fall. Before coming to SNU, Barnes served as a Nurse Research Fellow at Oklahoma City Veteran’s Affairs Hospital while teaching graduate nursing courses as an adjunct professor at the University of Oklahoma. Barnes is also a member of several professional organizations including the Epworth Villa Research Review Committee, Sigma Theta Tau, the Oklahoma Geriatric Nurses Society, and the Southern Nursing Research Association. Barnes holds an Associate of Science degree in Nursing from Northern Oklahoma College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington, a Master of Science degree in Nursing with a Community Health major and Education minor from the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Nursing, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
Carol Dorough joins the School of Nursing as Assistant Professor where she will teach undergraduate nursing courses. Originally from Butler, Pennsylvania, Dorough comes to SNU from Keene, Texas where she served as Assistant Professor of Nursing at Southwestern Adventist University. Dorough is a member of the National League of Nursing, Nazarene Health Care Fellowship, and American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Dorough holds Bachelor’s degrees in Medical Technology and Nursing from Southern Nazarene University and is currently working to pursue her doctorate with a specialization in Higher Education and a concentration in Health Care Education from Nova Southeastern University.
