Spring Commencement 2005
Southern Nazarene University (SNU) will honor the graduating class of 2005 during Spring Commencement exercises Saturday, May 14, 2005, 2:00 p.m. in the Sawyer Center, NW 39th Expressway & Donald.
A variety of activities are scheduled for graduating seniors during commencement weekend. Commencement festivities begin with the Senior Celebration, a celebratory dinner for traditional SNU seniors and their immediate families, on Friday, May 13, 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the SNU Sawyer Center. On Saturday, May 14, Phi Delta Lambda will host a breakfast (by invitation only) at 8:00 a.m. in the Heritage Room of the SNU Webster Commons. The Nursing Graduation Ceremony for the SNU School of Nursing will convene later that morning (May 14) at 10:00 a.m. in the Bethany First Nazarene Church Atrium.
On May 14, commencement exercises will begin at 2:00 p.m., and the doors in the Sawyer Center will open for guests at 1:00 p.m. Dr. James H. Diehl, General Superintendent, Church of the Nazarene World Headquarters, will serve as commencement speaker.
“Commencement is a highlight of the academic year for graduates, families, and SNU faculty and administration. It marks a high point of achievement for men and women we believe are better equipped to make a real, positive difference in the world,” said Dr. Don Dunnington, Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Following commencement exercises, the historic Ivy Ring Ceremony for graduates will take place at the Centennial Plaza in front of the Webster Commons. Families are encouraged to follow the graduates in their recessional out to the Centennial Plaza and stand behind their graduates as a part of the Ivy Ring Ceremony.
Commencement is open to the public, and there is no admission charge. Guests are asked to enter through the west doors of the Sawyer Center.
