Students chart way for President’s Ambassadors

22 students of Southern Nazarene University (SNU) have been selected as the first members of the President’s Ambassadors, an organization comprised of students who best exemplify the spirit and mission of Southern Nazarene University.

The charter members were recently honored during an induction ceremony on May 11, 2003 in the home of SNU President Dr. Loren Gresham and his wife Linda. Among those in attendance were select SNU faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni representatives.

Students named to the 2003 President’s Ambassadors are Amy Alexander, Erin Bolerjack, Trey Brooks, Heather Bryant, Mitchell Cook, Roxanne Dawson, Scott Dermer, Alma Flores, Rachel Graves, Heath Hagy, Sara McArthur, Liz Morton, Nikki Pierce, Christy Ray, Dalene Rovenstine, Heather Smith, Jacqui Sonnamaker, Heather Stallings, Jimmie Weaver, Christopher White, Heather Wickersham, and Bradley Wilson.

Under the direction of Dr. Loren Gresham, the President’s Ambassadors will help to “tell the SNU story” at various events throughout their tenure at SNU and as alumni where they will serve as the “face of SNU” to campus guests, potential donors, and potentials students. Membership is a lifetime commitment.

“President’s Ambassadors are representative students who want to give back to their university, both while they are actively studying at SNU and afterward for as long as they live,” said Dr. Gresham, SNU President. “They will be very visible at any university event where hosting of guests is needed. They are selected for their commitment to the ideals and values of the institution. I look forward to working with these outstanding young men and women in the building of the future SNU.”

To become a member, students are nominated by faculty and staff and interviewed by Dr. Loren Gresham and the Director of Community Life. Final selection is made by Dr. Gresham.

“I helped manage a similar program while working at Hawaii Pacific University last year,” said Kendra Thomson, Director of Community Life. “It looked like something that would work well here at SNU.”
