Two Southern Nazarene University graduates are scheduled to perform during Naz Nite at Six Flags over Texas the first of September. Jerry Phelps and Jerad Burkhart of the Remnant will perform two shows, at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday, September 3.
The Remnant concert is free with admission into the park. Tickets start at $24.99 and can be purchased through Southern Nazarene University’s Admission’s Office.
“We always love opportunities to play for the home crowd,” Phelps said. “They are the reason we do what we do.”
During the summer months, Six Flags hosts many Christian artists such as CeCe Winans, Audio Adrenaline and Steven Curtis Chapman.
Soon, the Remnant will join this cast.
Burkhart and Phelps met in college, and it wasn't long before they began performing together. Before forming the Remnant, they spent two summers touring together as a part of Witness, a SNU vocal group.
Their on-stage charisma and similar musical influences eventually led them to form the Remnant in March 2003. Immediately they began writing and producing of their debut album, Who You Are.
Following the May 2003 independent release, Burkhart and Phelps began touring throughout the South as well as the Caribbean, sharing the stage with such acts as CCM recording artists, The Darins and Crystal Lewis.
Earlier this summer, the Burkhart and Phelps moved to Nashville where they have already made headway in their musical career. During the July 4, weekend, the Remnant won 2nd place, out of 150 contestants, at Sonic Drive-In’s Search for a Star, and were featured as the opening act for a Patty Loveless concert.
