University Singers Present Concert with a Twist
The University Singers will present their annual spring concert with a new perspective, 7:30 pm, Friday and Saturday, February 15-16 in Cantrell Music Hall. Formerly titled “Songs of Romance,” the choir broadens the musical content to “Songs of Faith, Love and the People.”
“It’s very different from what we’ve done in the past. The selection is very diverse, so much so that I believe it’s a concert all will enjoy. There’s something for everyone,” said senior Troy de la Rosa.
Songs in the “Faith” category include “O Nata Lux” by Morten Lauridsen and “Come Sunday,” a slow jazz piece by The Real Group, featuring soloist Rachel Dorough. “Trash the Camp” from the movie Tarzan and a Gershwin medley, performed by the University Singer women, are featured in the “Love” section. A mixture of folk songs and “Kua Rongo” by Ngapo Wehi will be presented in the “People” group.
Tickets are $4 for adults, $2 for students and can be purchased at the door. For more information, please contact the Fine Arts department at 405-491-6345.
