Work and Obtain a Degree
Bachelor’s Degree Completion
Did you have big dreams when you graduated from high school that involved getting your college diploma? Did you start college and get sidetracked by life? Have you completed your bachelor’s degree, but want a graduate degree to get your career moving in the right direction? If you answered, “yes” to any of the above questions, Southern Nazarene University (SNU) can help you complete a bachelor’s or master’s degree very quickly without completely disrupting your work and family schedules!
SNU offers six, soon to be seven, bachelor’s degree completion programs with classes that meet only one night per week. Adult learners attend one class at a time and go through the program with a cohort group. Books are delivered to the classroom and are included in one all-inclusive program cost (excluding application fee and registration fee, which are not eligible for financial aid – that’s as small as the fine print gets). Program cost is locked in for the duration of the program. SNU has been offering programs for working adults for over twenty years. With a 95 percent graduation rate and graduates telling us the degree has been instrumental in helping them achieve their career goals, SNU is making a tremendous impact in the Oklahoma City metro area. The graduation rate sometimes causes raised eyebrows. The University does not compromise the quality or integrity of the academic experience. The high graduation rate is the result of a number of factors coming together: highly motivated adult learners, the supportive cohort structure, encouraging faculty and administration and a system that fosters success.
Enrollment in the Bachelor’s Degree Completion programs requires a minimum of two years of college credit. The six current programs are: Bridge (general education courses in accelerated format), Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Family Studies and Gerontology, Network Management and RN/BS (Nursing). This fall, the University’s Criminal Justice program will be launched in adult degree completion format. Organizational Leadership is our flagship program. It is the fastest program
(13 months) and is intentionally broad-based to apply to a wide variety of career interests. It incorporates the skills employers tell us they desire in employees – oral and written communication, problem solving and decision- making. Other programs are more narrowly focused for those who have a specific career path in mind.
Ready to get started now? Classes start throughout the year. Six o’clock to ten o’clock, one night per week, plus ten to twelve hours of preparation time each week for 13 to 16 months (depending on the program of choice) and you will be walking across the stage to receive your diploma!
Most graduate programs at SNU are also offered in the same format that is convenient for working adults. The nine programs currently offered include: Master of Arts in Educational Leadership, Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction, Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, Master of Arts in Theology, Master of Arts in Church Leadership, Master in Business Administration, Master of Science, Counseling Psychology, Master of Science, Management, and Master of Science, Nursing (Education and Administration tracks). These programs take from 17 to 30 months to complete, depending on the program of choice.
Zig Ziglar Center for Ethical Leadership
A new and exciting chapter in the history of Southern Nazarene University is beginning with the launching of the Zig Ziglar Center for Ethical Leadership. The life work of Mr. Ziglar will have the opportunity to influence countless additional lives as his principles are integrated into the learners’ experience from New Student Institute for traditional freshmen throughout all the campus population’s experience via integration into various courses.
Two new master’s programs are in development, MBA-Ethical Leadership and MBA-Non-profit Leadership. Plans are also underway to launch a doctoral program in Ethical Leadership in approximately two years. These programs will likely have a distance learning component coupled with some classroom interaction.
