Author Ben Lowe to speak at Southern Nazarene University during chapel in Herrick Auditorium on Tuesday, March 30th at 10:50 a.m. on the campus of Southern Nazarene University located at 6729 N.W. 39th in Bethany, Oklahoma.
In addition to the morning chapel, Lowe will join the dialogue with the Faith and Film video “The Cove” which will be showing in Herrick Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. the evening of Tuesday, March 30th. “The Cove” was the Oscar winning documentary this year.
Lowes’s professional life has mostly focused on environmental stewardship and climate change. Ben has served as the director of outreach for A Rocha USA (an international conservation organization) and he is the co-coordinator of Renewal (a national grassroots network committed to equipping students to care for the environment).
He is the author of Green Revolution: Coming Together to Care for Creation (IVP 2009), a practical book showcasing the growing Christian environmental stewardship movement. Ben is an advocate for the development of green jobs - both with the economy and the environment.
This past November 2, 2009, Lowe filed the petitions necessary to be a candidate for the Democratic primary for the 6th U.S. Congressional District of Illinois. In the primary on Tuesday, February 5, 2010, Lowe earned 100% of all votes cast for the 6th Congressional District Democratic nominee including 17,294 votes in DuPage County and 6,147 in Cook County, a total of 23,441 votes.
Ben’s home city is Wheaton, IL. Lowe earned a degree in environmental studies in 2007 at Wheaton College. He is also a member of Wheaton Chinese Alliance Church.
