Caps & Gowns

Traditional Students

  1. Commencement caps and gowns for traditional undergraduate students are ordered through the Office of the Registrar for each student who completes and submits a degree check and graduation application. Caps and gowns may be picked up in the Office of the Registrar starting the Monday prior to Commencement.

  2. Before picking up a cap and gown, traditional seniors should complete the Senior Exit Survey. The survey will be available approximately one week prior to Commencement.

  3. Students with Perkins Loans - holds are placed on cap and gown orders for graduating traditional students who need to complete exit counseling for Perkins Loans they have obtained while attending SNU. Approximately three weeks before Commencement, students will receive communication from the Office of Financial Assistance with instructions on the process for Perkins Loan exit counseling.  Online counseling and a one-on-one meeting with the Perkins Loan coordinator is required before caps and gowns will be released. Although it is encouraged, exit counseling for Stafford Loans is not required in order to receive a cap and gown. Any questions regarding student loan counseling should be directed to the Office of Financial Assistance at (405) 491-6310.

Professional and Graduate Studies Students

Professional studies and graduate studies students should check with program directors or program offices for dates, times and locations for cap and gown pick-up information.
DIPLOMAS

Students participating in Commencement exercises will receive an empty diploma cover at the Commencement ceremony. Following the processing of semester grades, graduates will receive diplomas from the Office of the Registrar within two weeks of Commencement exercises or the next closest of three annual degree conferral dates (the two Commencement dates and August 15) after completion of degree requirements. (The same process of using conferral dates applies to official graduation dates reflected on transcripts issued by SNU.) Diplomas will be sent by mail to the address specified by the student at the time caps and gowns are claimed or on the graduation application.

Graduation Announcements

Graduates may make announcement orders at any time during their last semester at SNU by going to gradstuff.net and follow the steps listed, or call (405)706-6366. Questions about which degree is being received should be directed to the Office of the Registrar (405) 491-6386.
