Chair School of Business Job Description

Position:

SNU is seeking to fill the position of Chair of the School of Business. The Chair will be responsible for providing visionary leadership and effective management to the School of Business. The Chair will articulate the mission and vision of the School to both internal and external communities, including faculty, students, administrators and the broad business community. SNU has a student body of approximately 2,400 students. The university welcomes applications from women and underrepresented minorities. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ is a requirement for all employees and faculty. Responsibilities begin July1, 2012 for a 12 month contract.

Position background: 

The Chair is responsible for both undergraduate and graduate programs. SNU School of Business is accredited by the ACBSP. In addition to its main campus in Bethany, Ok (a suburb of Oklahoma City, OK) , SNU has a secondary campus in Tulsa and a remote facility in Del City as well as a growing number of graduate on-line programs. SNU School of Business, with its motto of “Bringing the Mind of Christ to the World of Business” strives to create a distinctively Christian environment that fosters the integration of faith, learning, and living.

Qualifications:

Candidates must hold an earned terminal degree in a business discipline and must be qualified to teach undergraduate or graduate courses within the School of Business. International experience and a financial background are a plus. Responsibilities include leading the business program in traditional and graduate programs of the university. The programs include an undergraduate degree in both the traditional and adult environment as well as two graduate business programs, both of which are also offered on-line. The university is looking to expand both on-site and on-line graduate business programs. A pressing initiative is to work with faculty and administration to expand the business internship program so that all undergraduate business students can participate in an internship program. Duties will include ¾ teaching load (9 hours per semester) in addition to departmental administrative responsibilities. The chair will report to the Dean of the College of Business, Education and Kinesiology. The university is seeking a candidate with both business and academic experience, demonstrates an active and mature faith in Jesus Christ, and who will provide effective leadership built on the strengths of our business programs.

Responsibilities: 

The major responsibilities of the Chair of the School of Business include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Give leadership and direction to the School of Business faculty, staff and students under a university structure,
2. Direct the School of Business academic programs to ensure continuous quality improvement and relevance to the business world,
3. Demonstrate effective teaching ability,
4. Encourage existing faculty to continually grow and expand their professional knowledge,
5. Provide leadership to a growing graduate studies team that currently has three graduate programs offered both on-site and on-line and is looking to further expand its programs,
6. A commitment to expanding the global emphasis of the SNU School of Business through study abroad programs and international internships,
7. Manage the process of program reviews, including assessing student and institutional outcomes for undergraduate and graduate business program and degree offerings and maintaining the School’s ACBSP accreditation,
8. Coordinate with the Office of Admissions in attracting highly qualified students to the School of Business,
9. Develop internal and external resources necessary to support the School’s growth and manage existing resources to achieve maximum returns,
10. Expand the presence and reputation of the School of Business throughout the Oklahoma City business community,
11. Engage in resource planning, the development of budgets, allocation of resources, and management of expenditures, and
12. Coordinate with the Dean and administration in attracting highly qualified faculty to the School of Business,

Salary & Benefits:

SNU is located on a 44-acre site in Bethany, a western suburb of Oklahoma City. Oklahoma’s largest city, Oklahoma City is at the crossroads of three interstate highways (I-40, I-44, and I-35) and is served by several national and regional airlines. Oklahoma City was listed in August 2011 as one of the top 10 best places to live in the United States by the Wall Street Journal. SNU also has an additional campus in Tulsa, OK, which is 90 miles from Oklahoma City.
