  • SNU Alumnus, David Busic, Elected 40th General Superintendent

    INDIANAPOLIS, IN (June 26, 2013) - SNU Alumni, David Busic, president of Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, was elected as the 40th general superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene today. He was elected on the 21st ballot at the 28th General Assembly and Conventions in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Busic accepted the position.  “My brothers and sisters, I find myself experiencing two different emotions at once – incredible gratitude to the church and to God,” he said...  Full Story

  • SNU Presents Alumni Awards at General Assembly 2013

    BETHANY, OK (June 25, 2013) - Inaugural Kingdom Service Awards were presented by Southern Nazarene University at the SNU Alumni Luncheon on Sunday, June 23, 2013.   • SNU Alumnus Plays at Disneyland

    Southern Nazarene University alumnus, Tommy Goddard ('10) has returned from California after playing drums in the 2011 Disneyland All-American College Band. Goddard’s dream to be a part of this band began after first seeing them perform at the age of 4. It’s always been in the back of his mind to reach this ultimate goal.   Full Story

  • SNU Alumnus Becomes Student at New Medical School Campus

    Southern Nazarene University alumnus Daniel Linville (’10) is a part of a new medical school campus in Salina, Kansas that will focus on rural communities. Linville is one of eight in an inaugural class that will receive all of their training in a small community and where officials hope they will remain to practice medicine. The new school is operated by the University of Kansas and is the smallest in the nation to offer a full four-year medical education.   Full Story

  • SNU Alumna Becomes Administrator of the Year

    Southern Nazarene University alumna, Meggan (Burns) Wilson (’97) was chosen as Administrator of the Year by Oklahoma Association of Elementary School Principals. Earlier this year she received the OAESP district 11A Administrator of the Year. Since graduating from SNU Wilson has taught first, third and fourth grades in Oklahoma City, Putnam City and Mustang.   Full Story

  • SNU Alumnus Named Top 12 Finalist

    Southern Nazarene University alumnus Jody Bowie was named Putnam City Teacher of the Year earlier this spring. He was also named the Oklahoma Technology Association's Teacher of the Year. After receiving the Putnam City Teacher of the Year award, Bowie began the in-depth application process to become the Oklahoma Teacher of the year.   Full Story

  • SNU Students Take 3,700 Mile Journey

    Southern Nazarene University students, Travis Vernier, Carson Calloway and 2011 graduates, Jared Grosse and Matt Barnes are spending the summer riding bicycles across the United States. Their self-supported adventure began in Times Square at the end of May. The guys travel around 50-80 miles per day and are currently just outside of Minnesota.   Full Story

  • SNU Students Serve in Haiti

    BETHANY, Okla. (May 27, 2011) - "Unforgettable" may be the best way to describe the joyous, emotion-filled two-and-a-half hour dedication service for a church building in rural Haiti. The service was a highlight for 26 Southern Nazarene University students, faculty and staff during the May 15-24 trip to the Caribbean island nation still recovering from a devastating earthquake in January 2010.   Full Story

    Southern Nazarene University alumnus and Real Estate Attorney, Matthew Marchant (’98), was named Mayor of Carrollton, Texas on May 14. Marchant, who served as a city council member for nine years, defeated the incumbent, receiving 65% of the vote. Marchant’s plan for the future of Carrollton includes addressing and preventing recurring crime, boosting retail, commercial, and transit-oriented development, creating operational efficiencies in local government, and introducing opportunities for its...  Full Story

  • SNU School of Nursing Exceeds NCLEX National 3-Year Average

    BETHANY, Okla. (March 30, 2011) - Southern Nazarene University School of Nursing exceeds a three year national average for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). The NCLEX is a required exam to be taken by all senior nursing students in order to become certified as a registered nurse.   Full Story

  • Toby Rowland to be play-by-play voice for OU athletics

    Toby Rowland, a KWTV-9 sports reporter and KREF-AM 1400 morning talk show host, will be named the new University of Oklahoma play-by-play voice, The Oklahoman has learned. Rowland, who has been sideline reporter on the OU football broadcasts the past two seasons, will replace longtime announcer Bob Barry Sr., who retired after the basketball season.   • SNU Alum Gives Care to Thousands

    BETHANY, Okla. (February 10, 2011) - Southern Nazarene University alumna Tamera Berg was chair of the 2011 Oklahoma Mission of Mercy last weekend. Mission of Mercy is a two-day clinic designed to meet the critical needs of dental patients of all ages by providing free dental care to as many adults and children as time, volunteers and supplies will allow.   Full Story
