Congressman James Lankford to Speak at SNU Commencement

 

Southern Nazarene University will honor the graduating class of 2011 during Spring Commencement exercises at 10:00 a.m. for undergraduates and 2:00 p.m. for Professional and Graduate Studies on Saturday, May 14, 2011 in the Sawyer Center, located on the campus of Southern Nazarene University on Northwest 39th Expressway and Donald.

Congressman James Lankford will serve as Commencement Speaker for the Southern Nazarene University Spring Commencement ceremonies.

Lankford was elected to the United States Congress on November 2nd, 2010. Before being elected, he directed the Falls Creek Youth Camp from 1996 to 2009.In this capacity, Lankford served people with his real-world leadership and business experience. He is a member of the Heritage Foundation, Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, Deer Creek Chamber of Commerce, Edmond Chamber of Commerce, South Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, Northwest Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, and the NRA. He has been an active proponent in the pro-life and abstinence education conversation in Oklahoma.

Following the morning undergraduate commencement exercises, the historic Ivy Ring Ceremony for graduates will take place at the Centennial Plaza in front of the Webster Commons.  Families are encouraged to follow the graduates in their recessional out to the Centennial Plaza and stand behind their graduates as part of the Ivy Ring Ceremony.

Commencement is open to the public, and there is no admission charge. Guests are asked to enter through the west doors of the Sawyer Center.
