(BETHANY, OKLA.)---The Crimson Storm cross-country team opened up the 2009 season at the SNU Invitational held at Bethany’s Eldon Lyon Park on Saturday. In an event that featured over 650 runners in the middle school, high school, and university ranks, SNU performed well at their inaugural event.
In men’s action, SNU junior Seth Carley led the way for the Crimson Storm with a 1st place finish after posting a time of 15:43.13 in the 5k event. Other SNU finishes saw Erick Ngeny come in 3rd with a time of 16:07.49 and Benson Chepkwony place 5th with a time of 16:22.97.
Aaron Goble added a 6th place finish (16:29.69), Collin Whitsett was 8th (17:18.85), Joshua Frees was 10th (17:57.16), Anthony Pinazza was 11th (17:57.40), and Kyle Logan was 14th (19:47.45).
Only two teams competed at the university level and SNU outscored Oklahoma City with 19 total points to OCU’s 40.
In women’s university action, SNU’s Caitlin Litsey was 2nd with a time of 12:13.18 in the 3k event. Chesney Burweger followed with a 3rd place finish after posting a time of 12:15.77 and Angela Zanotti added a 4th place finish with a time of 12:40.04.
Other SNU finishes saw Rachel Murphey place 5th with a time of 12:40.78 and Chelsea Vanover come in 8th with a time of 14:06.94.
