The SNU Library purchases database access for the students, faculty, and staff of Southern Nazarene University. These links will open in a new window, so be sure pop-up blocking software is not preventing them from opening properly. The databases we currently purchase access to are:

  • 360 Core
    Search by journal title to find databases where the SNU Library has access to a specific journal title! Includes SNU Library's print and electronic periodical collections.
  • American Chemical Society Journals
    Provides access to over 30 peer-reviewed journals and magazines, 90,000 pages of additional material culled from the Web, and searchable access to 3 million pages of original chemistry dating back to 1879.
  • Biblical Archeology Society: Online Archive
    Contains all of the editorial content of Biblical Archaeology Review from 1975-present. Bible Review and Archaeology Odyssey as well as five of BAS's best-selling books.
  • Credo Reference     
    Features over 500 full-text reference titles available in a wide variety of subjects.
  • CultureGrams
    Provides cultural reports and demographic data for more than 200 countries on topics such as land and climate, history, personal appearance, greetings, gestures, family, diet, holidays, economy, education, health, events, and trends.
  • Ebrary
    Provides access to over 100,000 ebooks in 16 different subject databases like nursing, psychology, literature, and education.
  • EBSCOhost
     A massive collection of databases providing access to thousands of publications such as journals, biographies, primary source documents, reference books, photos, maps, etc.. Topics covered include religion, nursing, clinical pharmacology, animals, education, consumer health, various medical disciplines, literature, military, government, psychology, business, music literature, sport and fitness, social, political and economic issues, etc.

    Features the complete Encyclopædia Britannica Online plus Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus, Britannica Student Encyclopædia, and the Britannica Book of the Year.
  • Encyclopedia of Christian Civilization
    Provides reference works on the history and impact of Christianity from the viewpoint of 350 international scholars from 24 countries.
  • FirstSearch
    Provides access to dozens of databases and more than 10 million full-text and full-image articles.  Includes listings in the SNU and area library catalogs.
  • Films on Demand
    Provides provides over 6,000 educational films which can be used in face-to-face classrooms or streamed for online instruction.
  • Gale Virtual Reference Library
    This database is updated regularly and includes encyclopedias, almanacs, and specialized reference sources.
  • International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA)
    Provides transcriptions and literal translations of foreign language texts into English of opera arias and art songs.  All material on the site is considered in the public domain according to United States copyright law.
    Provides access to scholarly journals covering, but not limited to, such topics as art and art history, biological sciences, education, philosophy, political science, and sociology.
  • Literature Criticism Online
    The largest curated online collection of literary criticism in the world, this resource brings together 10 acclaimed multidisciplinary series representing a range of modern and historical views on authors and their works across regions, eras and genres.
  • Mergent Online
    This state-of-the-art product provides Internet-based access to the most detailed, accurate and comprehensive global company database available, including US and international company data, industry and country reports,  equity pricing, etc.
  • Naxos Music Library
    Contains music recordings from over 640 music labels and includes both classical and world music, libretti and opera synopses, and more than 40,000 composer and artist biographies.
  • NexisUni
    Includes full text of hundreds of US and world-wide newspapers, magazines, and newswires, major broadcast transcripts, campus news (including the Chronicle of Higher Education), patents, federal and state case law, detailed financial data for 43 million US and international companies, SEC filings, and business and trade publications.
  • Oklahoma Online
    Provides access to American Indian Materials, Oklahoma History and Culture, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma Science and Technology.  
  • Oklahoman Archives
    Contains searchable digital facsimiles of 100+ years of the newspaper.  Browse by date or keyword across articles, advertisements, and photo captions.
  • Opposing Viewpoints
    Provides information on current topics/events and includes pro/con essays, topic overviews, primary and secondary sources, court case reviews, statistical info, articles, and biographies of social activists and reformers.
  • Ovid
    Provides access to 24 core nursing journals as well as the Journal of Strength & Conditioning for kinesiology.
  • Oxford English Dictionary Online
    Is the world's most comprehensive dictionary of the English language.  It traces the development of English from the earliest records to the present day.  
  • Oxford Reference Online
    Contains over 100 dictionary, language reference, and subject reference works published by Oxford University Press as well as the Oxford Companions series and the Oxford Dictionary of Quotes. 
  • Proquest Theses and Dissertations Global 
  • PsycINFO
    Provides access to international literature in psychology and related disciplines.
  • SAGE
    Provides access to specific journals including: the American Educational Research Journal, The American Journal of Sports Medicine, American Sociological Review, Business & Professional Communication Quarterly, The Expository Times, International Journal of Business Communication, Intervention in School & Clinic, Music Educators Journal, SAGE Open, and Sports Health.
  • The Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Database (In the library only)
    Contains information on 27,000 voyages of Africans across the Atlantic to the Americas that occurred from 1585-1866.
  • Tulsa Campus Research Journal, Innovation & Empowerment (I&E)
    Provides access to original research and special papers of SNU-Tulsa faculty, students, and friends.
  • WorldCat
    Allows researchers to search the holdings of other libraries and request materials via interlibrary loan.

  • C-SPAN
      Features C-SPAN's video archives. 
  • Hathitrust
    Hathitrust is a digital library made possible by partnerships between academic and research institutions. It offers access to millions of digitized books. 
  • Hulu
    Hulu offers commercial-supported streaming video of TV shows and movies from NBC, Fox, ABC and many other networks and studios.  
    The Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching is a leading edge, user-centered, searchable collection of peer reviewed and selected higher education, online learning materials, cataloged by registered members and a set of faculty development support services. 
  • Project Gutenberg
    Project Gutenberg freely offers over 49,000 high-quality ebooks in different formats, like ePub, Kindle, and PDF. 
  • TeacherTube
    TeacherTube is a video sharing website similar to YouTube. It is designed to allow those in the educational industry, particularly teachers, to share educational resources. The site contains a mixture of classroom teaching resources and others designed to aid teacher training.  
  • Wesleyan-Holiness Digital Library
    Access the Nazarene denomination's free, open-access liberal-arts library providing multilingual resources to support scholarship, research, ministerial development, and life-long learning!

  • World Fact Book (CIA)
    Detailed statistics about and tools for analysis and display of the countries of the world.
  • YouTube Channels for Teachers
    This website aggregates YouTube Channels that teachers can use! It features videos from the Smithsonian, TED Talks, the Discovery Channel, PBS, the Biography Channel and university courses from Yale, Berkeley, Stanford, Houston, and others.  
  • Yovisto
    Yovisto is a worldwide video search engine for educational video content, including content from many countries and languages.
