Delta Mu Delta Honor Society

Delta Mu Delta Initiates April, 2003

Delta Mu Delta is an international honor society established to recognize and reward superior scholastic achievement of students in business. The first chapter of the Society was established at New York University on November 18, 1913 by five professors who wanted to recognize outstanding business students. There are now over 200 colleges that have established DMD chapters with more than 120,000 members.

DMD membership is recognized and even sought by employer representatives recruiting graduates for careers in business, education, and government. Membership in DMD would qualify a person for a GS-7 entry level (rather than GS-5) in numerous professional and technical occupations in the federal service.

SNU joined the national Delta Mu Delta organization in 1979 as the Gamma Sigma Chapter. Membership is available to undergraduate students with a 3.25 grade point average in the first 62 hours and to graduate students with a 3.8 GPA in the first 16 hours. The lifetime membership fees are due upon acceptance into the Society. As an indication of membership a student receives a certificate and a small piece of jewelry in the shape of the DMD key. SNU usually inducts new members at the Annual School of Business Awards Banquet held in April each year.

The SNU School of Business is dedicated to scholastic achievements and DMD membership is a way to reward and recognize those achievements. Membership into Delta Mu Delta is a worthy goal for any business student.
