What to Expect

The SNU Counseling Center is located on the lower level of the Webster Commons and has a private entrance (located at the end of the hall, past Student Development) that you may use so you don't have to walk through the Student Development office (confidentiality is of the utmost importance to us).

After completing the initial paperwork online here, you will be contacted to set an appointment using the info you have provided. It is normal to be nervous on your first visit to the Counseling Center, but most students comment on how relaxed they feel after just a short time. Typically, the first session is organized to gather information on you and what you perceive to be the issue that has brought you to see a therapist. There is some brief paperwork to be filled out to help in this matter, and the therapist will ask you some questions to get a better sense of how we can address the issue in your life. From that point on, the direction and content of your counseling sessions are primarily up to you.
