Bachelor of Arts History Degree

Our history program boasts a breadth of curriculum that intentionally engages the relationship between faith and psychology throughout the major and graduate program. At SNU, our number one goal is to prepare you to pursue your dreams of higher education and global service. With that in mind, we will customize a degree program that will help you to achieve your goals in life. In our program you will build these skills through a number of activities. Writing book and article reviews. Writing analytical and interpretative essays. Writing research and interpretive essays.

Writing research reports. Making presentations and conversing effectively about important topics in the field. You will also develop your research skills through activities in and out of the classroom. Learn to identify information relevant to historical research projects. Evaluate information with regard to accuracy, authenticity, and authority. Retrieve, record and manage information for use in research and documentation.

Our history program will allow you to take courses in American, European and World History. And we encourage you to take advantage of SNU’s Semester Abroad experience. Study in one of several countries around the world. Ecuador. Costa Rica. Egypt. Spain. Austria. China. Australia. Ask about it when you visit campus!

As a student in the SNU History department, you will be under the teaching of highly-qualified professors. Professors that hold Ph.D.s in history and have more than forty years of experience teaching in higher education. Knowledge and experience you will benefit from beginning the day you first walk on to campus. You will learn from people committed to a Christian liberal arts education with a desire to create a learning experience for you. An experience created with your personal advisor who will walk with you through your education plan all four years as you pursue your higher education or career goal. Alumni Spotlight

Aaron Bolerjack
History alumni Aaron Bolerjack from Southern Nazarene University, Bethany, Oklahoma
Currently: An international volunteer missionary with the Church of the Nazarene, specializing in European coffeehouse ministry

Responsibilities: While abroad Bolerjack frequently guest lectures in European universities and English groups, and will be teaching a class through SNU’s Online Associates Degree Program while working in the UK.
Achievements: Graduated summa cum laude with a BA in History from SNU and summa cum laude with his MA in History from OSU. He has presented scholarly papers at a variety of regional historical conferences, served as a guest lecturer for multiple schools and universities and holds local and district minister’s licenses. He is currently completing his studies for ordination in the Church of the Nazarene.
