Homecoming 2011 - Make Some Noise

BETHANY, OK (November 3, 2011) - On November 11th and 12th, Southern Nazarene University celebrates its annual Homecoming Weekend.

The 2011 theme, Make Some Noise!, honors all current and former Crimson Storm/Redskin athletes, coaches, spirit groups and fans. In this historic year, the first SNU Athletic Hall of Fame will be launched. In addition, the SNU Homecoming schedule is filled with athletic events, class reunions, Crimson Camp 4 Kids, The Hall of Witnesses, the SNU Arts Festival, SNU School of Music Broadway Musical, and the coronation of the University King and Queen.

SNU’s Homecoming festivities begin at 10 a.m. Friday morning with the King & Queen coronation ceremony. The dedication of the new Ten Commandments sculpture on campus will take place at 4 p.m. followed by the SNU Women’s and Men’s basketball game versus Southwest Christian at 6 and 8 p.m.

Saturday’s events begin early with the 1-Mile Family Fun Run at 8 a.m. The SNU Hall of Witnesses and Crimson Camp 4 Kids (ages 4-12) both begin at 9 a.m. followed by the SNU vs. Langston football game at 1:30 p.m. During all of these events, the annual Arts Festival will be set up along College St. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature booths from both students and local artists, live music and local food vendors such as Big Truck Tacos and Cupcakes to Go Go.

All Homecoming events culminate with the main event of the weekend, The All-Alumni Dinner & Athletic Hall of Fame presentation in SNU’s Sawyer Center at 5 p.m. Hosting as the evening’s emcee will be SNU Alumnus and “Voice of the Sooners,” Mr. Toby Rowland, SNU Class of 1995. 11 honorees will form our inaugural class of Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees. Honorees are Patty (Avalos) Naumoski, David Baker, Claud and Betty Cypert, Wes Harmon, Jeff Jantz, Ayodolle “Steph” Miller, Astou Ndiaye-Diatta, Dr. Wanda Rhodes, Carl and Marcia Sawyer, Katrina Springer and Todd Thurman.
