The Horizons program at SNU provides freshman and sophomore eligible students with preparatory information regarding graduate school preparation.  Sponsored by the McNair Scholars program, Horizons participants attend workshops and other on-campus activities designed to introduce them to the process of preparing for graduate school in the early years of their college career.


  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • First generation AND income eligible student OR a member of an underrpresented group: African American, Hispanic, Native Amercan or Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
  • Must be a freshman or sophomore
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Must express a desire to attain a Ph.D.
